Without any flour, butter or eggs, you can make sweet, chewy, healthy banana oatmeal cookies that will curb that sweet tooth and satisfy your body at the same time. Plus, its a great way to use up leftover ripe bananas! I especially love making these for young ones, because they are getting a sweet treat, but I know that these cookies do offer nutrients for them, too. If you have some picky eaters that need a boost of healthy energy, these are a great treat to try. They are a healthier option than my banana oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, because they have just 6 ingredients and are naturally sweetened.

Ingredients Needed

Bananas: Using ripe bananas is easiest, and makes the cookies nice and sweet! Old Fashioned Oats: Use old-fashioned oats here for the best chewy texture. Peanut Butter: I love peanut butter in these, but you can use any of your favorite nut butters! Cinnamon: For a hint of warm cinnamon flavor. Maple Syrup: Maple syrup works great as a natural sweetener. You can use honey or agave syrup if you have either of those on hand! Chocolate Chips: Semi-sweet chocolate chips add just a bit of chocolate to every bite! I like to sprinkle a couple extra chocolate chips on top when they come out of the oven too.

Tips for Success

Allow the cookies to cool before moving them! These oatmeal cookies are a bit more delicate than normal cookies, so make sure to let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for at least 5 minutes before removing and serving them. Instead of old-fashioned rolled oats, you can use quick oats. However, the texture will not be chewier and drier, so old-fashioned oats are preferred! Avoid steel cut oats as they take much longer to bake. Add additional fillings! You can add some more fillings like coconut, chia seeds, flax seed, nuts, or dried fruit!
