Easy Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
Oatmeal has to be one of the most comforting dishes out there, especially in the Fall and Winter when the days are cool and crisp. And this Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal is loaded with all the flavors you start craving in autumn, like fresh apples, cinnamon, and maple syrup. It’s like a deconstructed apple pie or apple streusel! I like serving my oatmeal like a warm cereal, where the oatmeal is prepared and then served with milk poured on top and a couple of the cinnamon apples. In a word, it’s divine! Bonus your house will smell amazing while this cooks!
What’s in Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
This easy Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal recipe is a cinch to make and only requires a few pantry staples! You’ll need: unsalted butter, an apple, ground cinnamon, old-fashioned oats, water, pure maple syrup, pure vanilla extract, and some milk. As far as what type of apple to use, it’s totally up to you! I recommend one with a crisp texture so it holds up well to the heat. I like using honey crisp, granny smith, or gala apples. Also, make sure to use old-fashioned oats and not instant or steel-cut oats. It has great health benefits and cooks in very little time.
How To Make Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
Prepare Your Cinnamon Apples: Melt the butter in a medium saucepan. Add in apples and sauté for 3-4 minutes over medium-high heat, or until the apples start to get tender. (Do not overcook them, or they’ll turn to mush when you cook them with the oatmeal.) Sprinkle in the cinnamon, and toss to coat.
Cook the Oats: Add in the oats and water then cook on medium high heat until almost all of the liquid has absorbed and the mixture has thickened, 3-4 minutes. Stir in maple syrup and vanilla, and mix well.
Serve: Divide the Apple Pie Oatmeal between two bowls, and serve with milk, if desired. Enjoy!
