Whenever I am out in a pub, I am always tempted to order chicken wings. Together with nachos they are my biggest weakness. I like them in any flavour. The biggest draw for me is the crispy skin! I’ve attempted to make them at home many times but not always successfully. Many recipes require deep frying to achieve that restaurant taste, which I refuse to do. You can definitely make good tasting chicken wings in an oven but they are not quite as crisp and succulent.  I’ve tried to grill them as well. And while I adore the smoky charred taste, the texture is not there.  Enter the This is an affiliate link.Air Fryer method!

Air Fryer Recipes

I’ve been devoted to my air fryer for a few years now. I admit it took me a few months to figure out how to use it to its full potential. I started out cooking potatoes because I love fries but not the calories they come with! Air fryer is perfect for delivering that “fried” taste without the copious amount of oil.  I finally discovered what my air fryer excels in, and that is delivering CRUNCH. It’s ideal for making food crispy, like Chicken Tenders for example.  They do this by circulating very hot air with a fan, a method called convection. No frying happens, which makes the name slightly misleading. With the help of a wire basket, air is able to get almost everywhere. This allows food to turn brown and crispy without having to use lots of oil as when frying. Air fryers are also great for crisping up chicken skin even when no breading is involved. It can cook the juiciest whole chicken with the crispiest skin in half the time of the oven roasted chicken! Learning all of the above made me realise that cooking chicken wings in my air fryer has got to be the best thing ever. Crispy skin, succulent taste and virtually no oil!

Storage and leftovers

Leftover chicken wings can be kept in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. The best way to reheat them is by bringing them back to the air fryer for 5-6 minutes, or until they are hot throughout. I wouldn’t recommend using a microwave. So much of what makes air fryer chicken wings great is the crispy outsides, which will be lost in a microwave.
