Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies
Take a break from boring brownies (just kidding, I LOVE brownies) with these easy and tasty browned butter chocolate chip blondies. They’re super quick to make and use minimal kitchen tools, which also means easy cleanup! Plus, they’re delicious — it’s a win-win situation. The key to this homemade blondie recipe is the browned butter. And trust me, browned butter makes everything better, especially these chocolate chip blondies. I know it may seem like this extra step is unnecessary, but taking an extra 10 minutes to brown your butter before creating your batter really does make a world of difference in the flavor profile of these quick and easy blondies.

Tips for making the perfect Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies
Serve with ice cream. These browned butter chocolate chip blondies are best served warm with a big scoop of ice cream on top! Check your saucepan. I recommend using a lighter colored saucepan when browning butter. It makes it easier to tell when the butter is browning and helps from burning the butter. Blondie or brownie? There really isn’t much of a difference between these two delicious treats — just the flavor. Brownies are chocolate and blondies are, well, blonde yellow cakes and other non-chocolate batters.
It’s all about browning the butter
Browning the butter is easy and adds so much flavor to these browned butter chocolate chip blondies — don’t skip this step! Simply heat the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook for about 5-7 minutes swirling the pan occasionally. After you have browned the butter stir it in with both sugars and vanilla. (I like to allow the mixture to cool for a couple of minutes before adding the egg). Fold in flour, baking soda, salt and spread the batter into an 8 x 8 pan. Cook in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. I like to slightly under bake mine so they are nice and soft on the inside. PRO TIP: If your butter starts to foam in the saucepan while browning it, don’t worry — that’s supposed to happen! The foam will dissipate and you’ll know you’re finished when the butter starts to smell a little nutty.
