Ingredients Needed

Avocado: Sliced avocado adds a creamy texture and extra nutrients! Salt & Pepper: Season the avocado with salt and pepper to taste. Butter: I like to toast my California grilled cheese in the pan with butter. You can opt for mayo if you prefer! Bread: Use your favorite bread here. I like how crispy and sturdy sourdough bread is so I typically use that for my grilled cheeses. Mayonnaise: Mayonnaise is spread on the inside of the sandwich for an extra creamy texture. Tomato: Sliced tomato brightens the flavor! Turkey: I used sliced chicken breast, but you can use any of your favorite deli meats, or omit it completely! American cheese: For a creamy cheesy grilled cheese I used American cheese. Feel free to use your favorite cheese! Sharp cheddar or pepper jack would also be great in this!

Tips for Success

Cook the grilled cheese low and slow! Cooking at a lower temperature takes longer but you will end up with a crispier outside and the cheese fully melted on the inside. You can even throw the grilled cheese in the oven to melt the cheese. Add extra fillings! You can add things like sprouts or crispy bacon. It is totally up to you! Just don’t overfill the sandwich, or it might be hard to flip in the pan and eat.
