Tips and ideas for making this recipe
Make sure to preheat your oven so it’s nice and hot before baking the pizzas. This helps create a super crispy base! Cut the squash into thin slices so they cook quickly. If you don’t like goats cheese you could use a blue cheese, mozzarella, or any cheese you like! Keep an eye on the garlic when sauteing it so it doesn’t burn. Garlic can burn easily and turn very bitter. Only add the arugula to the pizza after baking it adds a nice fresh peppery crunch. I like to top my pizza with balsamic vinegar but that’s totally optional.
What if I can’t find fresh figs?
If you can’t find fresh figs or if they are out of season you can chop up dried figs and sprinkle them over the pizza just before baking. Alternatively, you could replace the figs with fresh sliced pear or apple something that will contrast well against the strong cheese. If you do use other fruit you don’t need to roast them first just place raw slices on the pizza before baking.
Can I prepare this in advance?
This fig pizza is super easy to prepare in advance. You can keep the pizza dough in the fridge until you are ready to roll it out, roast the veggies and figs, prepare the onions and garlic oil all in advance. That way all you need to do is assemble the pizza when you are ready to eat.
Can I freeze this pizza?
Absolutely, wrap the pizza in plastic wrap and aluminum foil and freeze then thaw completely before reheating. If you’ve tried this Fig Pizza or any other recipe on the blog then don’t forget to rate the recipe and let me know how you got on in the comments below, I love hearing from you!
