What You Need to Make this Recipe
Flatbread — to save time, use 2 premade flatbreads or naans. Or, if you have time, make your own homemade flatbread using my naan bread recipe. Pizza sauce — you can also swap this out for pesto or marinara sauce for a fun twist (see the bottom of this post for several variations). Fresh mozzarella cheese — fresh mozzarella is the best choice here. Tear it into pieces for even cooking. If you don’t have fresh, use low-moisture mozzarella cut into cubes. Tomatoes — cherry tomatoes are wonderful on these thin crust pizzas. You can use red tomatoes or multicolored ones for a pretty presentation. Garlic — a teaspoon of minced garlic adds so much flavor. Garlic lovers, feel free to add as much as your heart desires! Basil — a homemade pizza wouldn’t be complete without sweet and delicate fresh basil leaves. You could use other fresh herbs if you like!
How to Make Flatbread Pizza
- Place the flatbreads on a large baking sheet (no need to line it with parchment paper) and spread pizza sauce onto each one. Leave a ¼-inch border along the edges. (You can also preheat a pizza stone in the oven to bake on for a crispier flatbread.)
- Sprinkle both flatbreads with fresh, torn-up mozzarella.
- Add sliced fresh tomatoes and minced garlic on top of the mozzarella cheese and season with salt and pepper. (You can also use a sprinkle of Italian seasoning if you want.)
- Bake in an oven preheated to 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes. The flatbread should be golden brown and the cheese should be melted. Allow the flatbread pizzas to cool for about 5 minutes, and top with fresh torn basil leaves.
Pro Tips for Making this Recipe
Save time with this store-bought flatbread pizza recipe. I’ll be honest: On a busy weeknight, I want to make dinner as quick and easy as possible. Using my favorite store-bought flatbread is such a simple way to save time and energy! I like the puffiness of naan, but any flatbread you like will work, even pita bread. Turn pizza night into a family affair! If you have children old enough, put them in charge of pizza toppings. My sons love helping me and choosing the toppings for their own pizzas. Change up the base. Swap the tomato sauce for pesto, a creamy white sauce, or something more unique like barbecue sauce! Use garlic naan. If you are all about garlicky flavor, up the ante with garlic naan.
