Not a fan of whiskey? Try our Cognac Sour! When my husband and I were young and newly married we got befriended by an elderly British couple, who introduced us to the world of entertaining.  At their house you’d be always be offered a pre-dinner aperitif, the European custom we adopted and embraced wholeheartedly.  Nowadays whenever I plan a holiday menu, I always think of a perfect cocktail to complement my dishes. This year my husband and I played with the classic whiskey sour to go along our autumnal Thanksgiving menu.

Thanksgiving Cocktail

The base for this drink is the classic whiskey sour, which consists of whiskey, lemon juice and simple syrup with an addition of some egg white.  What can be more reminiscent of the fall and harvest than apples and maple syrup?!! With that in mind we decided to incorporate those ingredients into our holiday cocktail.  We replaced simple syrup with maple syrup, then topped our shaken with ice maple whisky sour with dry hard apple cider.  To create a frothy top we added an egg white. If you are not comfortable with adding a raw egg white into your drink, substitute with pasteurised egg whites. Those are available in most supermarkets.  Our Selection of Classic Cocktails with a Twist:
