The temperature in Houston is  beyond boiling! Luckily for me, i’ve got a whole pitcher of this refined sugar less peach- flavored fresh water beverage in the refrigerator for me to sip on and to keep me nice and hydrated all summer long. And if you live in the south, you know we have summer 9 out of the 12 months of the year. The forecast is lookin’ pretty scary for us here in Texas. After the torturous rains of Memorial Day weekend, which ahem luckily the hubby and I didn’t have a chance to see as we were freezing in Toronto around that time. We have another little humdinger headed our way, also known as tropical troublemaker, Bill. <— yeah, that’s not my name for it. Unfortunately, Houston is still recovering from the rains from Memorial Day and guessssssss whaaaat! Another 7 INCHES. INCH-ES of rain between today and tomorrow is headed our way. The drive to my parents place has suddenly become a lot more scenic as parts of some forests are still flooded. Insert crinkly eyebrow/zigzag mouth emoji here. And the saddest part about all of this? Well, one would expect it to, let’s say, cool down after it’s rained buckets full of water for 24 hours straight. Oh, but that’s not how we do it in Texas. Oh no. All that water starts to (and here you’ll see my meteorology skills at work) evaporate and all of Texas becomes a SAUNA. Peachy. Just, peachy. Here’s to hoping we have our electricity when you’re reading this! I’m totally wishing and praying that the cool and refreshing bliss of this peachy beverage tames the Houston heat this year. And, chyeah also totally cools of this tropical troublemaker. All I want right now is a nice 70s breeze, friendly and tamed sunshine, a pitcher full of this peachy goodness, a never ending station on Spotify loaded with all my favorite jammy jams, and one sweet summer reading list. Hey, a girl can dream, right? Or I could totally just have a mason jar full of this stuff and literally feel the cool ocean air move me. Here’s to wishing I was back in Cancun! If you’re wondering what in the world an agua fresca is, allow me to explain. An Agua Fresca is basically a combination of different fruits, sugar, and water that are blended together to create a refreshing, non-alcoholic beverage. They are usually sold by street vendors in Mexico and the Caribbean. And though you could probably make one out of most fruits, the most common are mangos, watermelons, strawberries, and cantaloupes. What makes my peach agua fresca special is that it’s completely refined sugar free. We’re using the natural sweetness of honey to sweeten it and it pairs beautifully with the peaches. I’m also adding a few sliced jalapeños for a little added kick. Don’t worry, you’re not the only one that is giving me the hairy eyeball right now. The hubs gave me one too. And though he was pretty skeptical at first as to how a blended fruit drink with honey and jalapeños was going to turn out, he had 2 glasses and i’m happy to report that he was pleasantly surprised as to how refreshing this drink really is! Give it a try, i’m sure you’re gonna love it! 🙂
