published Feb 09, 2022, updated Sep 03, 2024 Lebanese cuisine has so many delicious meals to offer! Light fattoush bread salad, tasty lentil soup, meaty stuffed pita. Whatever the craving or occasion, there’s a recipe for you to try. For this Lebanese meat dumpling recipe, we’re talking classic Middle Eastern comfort food. Depending on the recipe, these small dumplings are filled with either seasoned beef or lamb and served in a flavorful yogurt soup or tossed in a thicker, richer yogurt sauce – which is my personal favorite! One of the reasons I love this shish barak recipe is that it’s an opportunity to use some of my favorite Middle Eastern spices. Some of them are mixed into my homemade Lebanese 7 spice blend and some are mixed into a tangy, mouthwatering yogurt sauce that’s a unique combination of refreshing and spicy.
Recommended Tools
Cookie Cutter – The easiest way to quickly make uniform dumpling wrappers is with a round cookie cutter. For this dumpling recipe, try to find one 3 or 3 ½-inch in diameter.
Storing and Reheating
Refrigerate your leftovers, sauce and all, in an airtight container. Whether you decide to make this shish barak recipe with beef or lamb, the shelf life is the same – consume within 4 days. I recommend reheating on the stovetop, slowly bringing dumplings to temperature along with the sauce. Love this recipe? Share it with the world on Pinterest.
