This fruit parfait recipe is so easy to customize. Feel free to use plain, vanilla, Greek, or flavored yogurt. If you need a dairy-free option, swap in your preferred plant-based yogurt. And no need to only use berries; most fruits taste great in a parfait, so use whatever’s in season! You can also add sweetness with honey or chocolate chips, and more texture with chopped nuts. What you need to make this recipe

Yogurt — my go-to is vanilla yogurt or plain Greek yogurt. I prefer a thicker yogurt like skyr or Greek yogurt, but regular yogurt works great too- use whatever you enjoy eating the most! Berries — I use blueberries and chopped strawberries in this recipe, but you can use different berries, or other fruit. Get plenty of ideas in the Pro Tips section below. Granola — use your favorite store-bought or homemade granola, whichever you have on hand!

How to make yogurt parfait

  1. In a glass or Mason jar, spoon about ⅓ cup of yogurt to create the first layer.
  2. Top the yogurt with a few spoonfuls of fresh strawberries.
  3. Add blueberries and 2 tablespoons of granola.
  4. Repeat the layers: Add yogurt on top of the fruit and granola, then another layer of fresh berries, and top with additional granola. Refrigerate until ready to serve. To prevent soggy granola, serve as quickly as possible.

Pro tips for making this recipe

Cut the larger fruit. Before layering the fruit parfait, chop the strawberries or other larger fruits into small pieces. Large fruits like peaches, plums, mango, and pineapple are all great options that should be chopped or cut into smaller pieces. Fruits like blueberries and raspberries are small enough to just add whole. Use different fruits. Strawberries and blueberries are delicious, but feel free to use your favorite fruit or whatever fruit is in season. Blackberries, raspberries, sliced bananas, pitted cherries, and chopped pineapple, mango, or apples would all be delightful! Add sweetness. If you need extra sweetness, add a drizzle of honey, maple syrup, or a few chocolate chips. You can mix the honey with the yogurt before layering the homemade yogurt parfaits, or simply add it at the very end. For more texture: Chopped nuts add extra crunch to a berry parfait. Stir them into the granola, or sprinkle them in with the fruit. For jammy fruit layers, lightly mash the fresh fruit with a tablespoon of sugar or honey and let sit for 10 minutes. Or, add a few dollops of a fruit preserve, like strawberry jam, in with the fruit for each layer.
